Dr. Bill Hardee, Senior Pastor
Dr. Bill Hardee was called to be Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in February 2009. Dr. Hardee was born in Jesup, Georgia, and was educated at Brewton-Parker College and Oral Roberts University. He earned his PhD at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He served as pastor of a few churches in Macon before coming to Griffin. Throughout his ministry, Dr. Hardee has also served as Headmaster of a parochial school, a Chaplain for Hospice, and an adjunct professor at Mercer University.
He and his wife, Jane, lead an active lifestyle. They enjoy traveling, cycling, hiking, sailing, golfing and scuba diving. Dr. Hardee also has a private pilot’s license. The Hardees have three grown children.

Rev. Hambric Brooks, Associate Pastor
Hambric has been on staff at First Baptist since March of 2002. He is responsible for oversight and preaching at Connexion, our contemporary service each Sunday. He is also the Pastor to Missions and Life Groups. Hambric loves spending time with people, building relationships with them, and helping them to live out the light and love of Christ in their lives. He wants to meet the community where they are and make a difference together.
Hambric was raised in Statesboro, Georgia. He is a graduate of Georgia Southern University (B.S.) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.). He is currently pursuing a DMin in Semiotics and Future Studies at George Fox Evangelical Seminary. He is married to Teresa, and they have four children: Destiny, Faith, Hope, and Thomas. In his spare time he loves Crossfit, hunting, fishing, and other sporting activities.

Rev. Brian McCartney, Minister of Education
Brian McCartney joined the First Baptist staff in March 2004. He is a graduate of Furman University, Greenville, South Carolina, and the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. Brian has served four churches – Seminole First Baptist Church in Seminole, Florida; Thomasville Road Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida; Seminole Heights Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida; and now Griffin First. He also served as director of education for the Suncoast Baptist Association, Largo, Florida. Brian and his wife, Joyce, have been married for over thirty-five years and have two grown children, Maureen and Matthew. Brian and Joyce find much joy in reading, travel, and camping in their pop-up trailer (“McCamper”). They also enjoy being grandparents to Cadence and Piper.

Rev. Marty Watts, Minister of Music
Marty began serving First Baptist Church of Griffin in August 2004. He came to Griffin after completing Bachelor and Master degrees in Church Music at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Marty grew up in Dunwoody, Georgia and attended Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, where he was also ordained on February 27, 2005. His duties as Minister of Music at First Baptist include planning and leading worship services, directing various choral and instrumental ensembles, and overseeing the Griffin School for the Arts. In addition to his music and worship responsibilities, he sings with The CenturyMen, a male chorus composed of professional Baptist musicians, and is assistant director of Griffin Choral Arts, a community chorus. Marty also plays the cello and teaches with the Griffin School for the Arts. Marty’s wife Karyn is also actively involved in the Music Ministry of First Baptist. Karyn and Marty are experiencing the joys (and trials) of parenthood having welcomed a son, Duncan, in May of 2015.

Rev. Sarah Murray, Minister to Children and Families
Sarah began serving First Baptist Church of Griffin in July 2014. With a love for people and for stories, Sarah is driven by a calling to help families discover their place in God’s story through the routine and the extraordinary. Through experiences with her family of origin and the church families she’s been a part of, Sarah is confident that although life is together is not always easy, we are better servants of Christ and one another when we live out our faith in the context of community. Fred Rogers is one of Sarah’s faith heroes and models for equipping and encouraging children and parents in Christian faith. A native of Thomasville, GA, Sarah earned an English degree from Mercer University and a Master of Divinity from the McAfee School of Theology. Prior to First Baptist of Griffin, Sarah served First Baptist of Fitzgerald, GA. She is married to David, and they enjoy traveling, doing household projects together, trying new foods and recipes and making one another laugh.

Rev. Kyle Boyer, Minister to Students
Kyle Boyer joined the staff at FBC Griffin in December 2015. Kyle was born in Lubbock, TX and grew up in North Georgia. He received a BBA in Business Management from Georgia Southern University and his Master of Divinity from George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University. Kyle has served as a youth minister and pastor at churches in Georgia and Texas. Prior to being called to Griffin, Kyle served as Minister to Students at FBC Augusta, GA. He is passionate about ministry with families and students.
Kyle is married to Christine, and they have a 3-year old daughter, Holly. Kyle enjoys golf, college football, grilling, and trips to Home Depot with Holly. He loves road trips and finding new places to eat- especially BBQ! Kyle is also involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Great Strides where he serves on a national board for Parent/Patient advocacy.
